Sao Tome CIP Operates on Blockchain

The Citizenship by Investment Unit of São Tomé and Príncipe is proud to announce a landmark development: the nation’s CBI program will become the first in the world to operate on blockchain technology.

Through a strategic partnership between the Government of São Tomé and Príncipe, STP Service Advisory (STPSA), and IOPn, a UAE-based sovereign technology provider, the program will soon be managed through a fully digital, blockchain-powered platform.

This innovation represents a significant milestone for the CBI industry as a whole; opening doors to higher levels of transparency, efficiency, and data security in citizenship processing.

By integrating blockchain technology, São Tomé and Príncipe will be able to:
✅ Ensure every stage of the application process is verifiable and tamper-proof
✅ Reduce processing times and administrative inefficiencies
✅ Strengthen international confidence through secure and transparent governance

“This collaboration represents a turning point not only for our program, but for how small nations can leverage innovation to strengthen credibility and trust,” said Disney Leite Ramos, Director of the Citizenship by Investment Unit of São Tomé and Príncipe.

The initiative also reflects São Tomé and Príncipe’s commitment to embracing digital transformation and responsible innovation. By partnering with IOPn and STPSA, the CIU will ensure that the program continues to meet the highest international standards of compliance, transparency, and service excellence.

As the world’s first blockchain-enabled citizenship programme, São Tomé and Príncipe reaffirms its position as a forward-thinking nation, and one that bridges technology with investment to create long term global value.
