Sao Tomé and Príncipe is a party to the Hague Apostille Convention. All supporting documents issued in your country, must affix Apostille issued by the competent authority of the country where the document originated, to be recognized in Sao Tome and Principe. If your country is not member of Hague apostile convention, documents must be certified with a notary.
All foreign-issued documents—such as
- criminal records,
- birth certificates,
- marriage certificate
- bank references
must bear an Apostille stamp or be consular legalized. Non-Portuguese documents must also be translated by a certified translator
If you are obtaining documents from within São Tomé and Príncipe (like a local certificate), the Department of Consular Services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is responsible for issuing the Apostille.
Criminal Record Certificate is issued within 2 business days in the country to citizens and residents provided you have had mandatory residency of 2 years in the country.
